Royal Inserts

Royal Inserts are a 3 piece that have evolved into the Japanese Osaka scene over the past few years and have created a lot of interest through their inspired event "The Big Jugs Experience". Recognised due to their garage punk rock putting a true British edge into the mix, the Royal Inserts have excited audiences throughout the underground digs of osaka.
Kevin Daly (Guitar/ Vocals) and Gavin Nodder (Bass) have been cracking the whip over the past 5 years since arriving in Japan, and with new drummer Oshyo, they bring a vibrant and rapmant edge to modern british indie punk.
Kevin Daly and Gavin Nodder are both from South-East UK and bring the pulse of a thriving scene to the street of Osaka. Drummer Oshyo, an Osaka resident, rocks as if brought up in Brixton. As a band they are bringing head spinning tunes to live houses that make you want to dance holes in yer Converse and thriash out at the same time.

He developed an interest in the Japanese language and culture while attending Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. After attending an intense Japanese language and culture program in Hakodate, Hokkaido in the summer of 2005, Bass applied and was accepted into the JET Programme. Prior to living in Japan, though, Bass self-produced his first studio album, titled Only a Moment, in which he blended his music across many genres, and included Japanese lyrics on some of the tracks. He has been living and working in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture for nearly two years as an Assistant Language Teacher for the JET Programme, and has been pursuing music on the side. While primarily a solo artist, Bass is also involved in bands such as The Ramen Shop Biwako Nightwalkers and Dekoboko Konbi (凸凹コンビ), who have had regular gigs in Kyoto, Shiga, and are recently traveling as far as Kobe to perform.

What is Nininbaori?

Nininbaori (二人羽織り) is a Japanese comedic act where two people wear the same large coat (haori) and pretend to be one (hunchbacked) person. One person is the "face" and the other sap is the "arms." Humor usually comes from the fact that the arms are never coordinated with the face and always end up making a mess. (from Wikipedia)

Roly Skender & The Tonics

The Tonics were put together by Roly Skender during the recording of his 2006 solo release Electric Umbrella which featured the nationally acclaimed single Free. The band plays unconventional pop music with a unique take on rock/alt/country from the most isolated city on earth. "Feel" is the new single from Roly Skender & The Tonics. A swaggering, adventurous ride into pop territory difficult to categorise except to draw futile comparisons to Elvis Costello, John Lennon, The Rolling Stones and early Pink Floyd. Roly Skender & The Tonics feature twice on the 2007 WAMi CD (A West Australian music compilation) with the song "Inside my Room" and another self-produced video from the radio single "Draw me in."
