it's a hard question to answer honestly but at least, are you fashionable and have a good appearance? The reason I ask is because many Japanese who like foreigners are kind of plain looking, like they are trying to look like Americans or Aussies in the way they dress and do their hair. Some of us want to date Japanese but sometimes the Japanese people who want to date us aren't the kind of Japanese people we go after. So just a heads up to realize that. And, I don't think Japanese are any more narrow-minded than a lot of the Westerners who come here. Some Westerners in japan always expect Japanese people to cater to them and to try to act like them; it's really rude to step into a new country and expect the natives to readjust to you. |

ill get my english better,because i really need foreign friends to hang around with. but foreign guys in bar of kyto is not interested in japanese guys only girls. but i understand that,due to that we can never be real friends due to my poor communication skill especailly english skill. and a lot of foreign people says its pretty hard to get along with japanese. they says its not only linguistic problems but also their personality itself. and i kinda agree to them that most japanese are narrow-mind and timid. |

I wonder y it is that you want to meet (meat) a foreign chick when most of the foreign guys over here go for Japanese girls......makes you think.... Treat em like a person, don't say you wanto toou puractisu ze engulishu, ask them out as person and who knows. Avoid gaijin bars as they're usually meat markets for gaijin on gaijin or gaijin on naijin (Japanese). Try a club, school, culture club, airport..... goodo rucku |

Even when they realize that we have nothing in common they keep talking because they really want to speak English with a gaijin. I'm sure they've never made friends with a Japanese person by chasing them down on the street and saying "Excuse me, where are you from?" It's a pretty unnatural way to make a friend.

Same goes for in college back in the states, there were always these American guys hanging around the ESL department trying to pick up on girls by asking them to teach them their native language, or offerring to help them 'learn English.' My school for a few years actually stopped doing opposite sex conversation partner matching for language students because it got to be a big problem. They do opposite-sex conversation partner matches now but usually only in cases where there's a really weird male-to-female ratio among language representation. When I talk to someone no matter where they are from, I wanna make friends with them like I would in my home country....what are your interests? what do you like to do? see if we have something in common. Plus chat a bit to determine if they're cool or not.  |
