I am a student in Uni. I am writing a paper about Mixed-race [bicultural] marriage and Bilingual couple
I am interested in hearing many different stories from those couples. Thank you... |

I think the big thing in intercutural relations is understanding. Mutual understanding at that. This will loead to respect and may indeed negate any negative things that may crop up in a relationship.

when we cook together, i found out. My american BF wash all meat like chicken, pork, and beef. i was so surprised! because japanese never wash meat. also he doesn't wash rice!! Rice have to be washed before cooked. isn't it interesting??? |

I never washed rice for the first 2 years I lived in Japan. And I noticed the difference after I started washing it. The rice is softer and the taste is better.
But you have to wash the pork and the chicken!

I think it really all depends on your perspective. Meat comes from Factories where they use all kinds of chemicals and shit on the meat to preserve it for transportation on that kind of stuff....so really washing it is a must. As for rice, well, rice is starch so there is probably no safety need to wash but to so ften it up is good. As for the thing about not washing meat in front of older people..who cares. Tell them where the meat comes from and what happens in the factories and then they might change their minds.

I wash rice now because I know its better that way. I didn't do it before because I am lazy (not because I am young).
I've never seen an American wash rice (old or young) in America.
