What is this whynot thing? I'm a Japanese guy, and I've dated only western girls all my life, and now that I'm living back in my own country, I don't really want a Japanese girl. The girls I meet here are only around for a short term, and I want to find someone who'll be around long enough until I finish my degree, and then maybe move with me somewhere else in the world. Do any girls like that show up at WhyNot parties?

To be honest, not a lot of western girls go to these parties. It's mostly western guys and j-girls.

I met my girl friend at one of why not parties.
she is american.(i am japanese by the way)
I only been twice to why not thing, but i saw alot of western girls there.
my G.F. said she was looking for japanese guys, but japanese guys don't talk to her. maybe because they are too shy or don't know how to speak english?? i don't know.
but i used to live in canada for about 8 years, so I do speak english and i get used to talk to foreign girls at parties.
if you want to have a foreign G.F., just talk to them!
they are waiting for japanese guys to talk to them.

yeah! i'm a western guy, but i know lots of western girls who would LOVE to get with japanese guys! i guess the problem is mainly shyness and language ability, so a japanese guy who has lived abroad and/or dated western women would be golden here!

i say to the japanese guys who have lived abroad and know how to talk to foreign women: GO FOR IT!! get out to the Whynot events and gaijin bars and meet the western ladies-- some of them are desperate to meet YOU!!

OK, so is WhyNot a club, bar or what? And its not like I need encouragement, I just need to find girls who'll be in Japan long enough so I can be more than just a ryugakusei's Japan fling... Given that I spend almost all my waking hours at my office @ university, the only foreign girls I come into contact with are ryugakuseis:( Are most non-student, non-tourist foreign girls in Japan English teachers?

But thanx for the encouragement nonetheless, I'm inspired enough to go to one of these events:)

I'm an American female looking for a Japanese boyfriend. I find it difficult because I think most Japanese guys are not interested in America like Japanese girls are. well I have got one of Japanese mates who has an American girlfriend and many are interested or want to date western women but some men here would be shy or don't know how to start talking to women like you. maybe because some can't speak English. However you shouldn't think they aren't keen on you. but sometimes you have to move on first even if men normally apporoach women. some western women have Japaense boyfirend here but some had to talk to their Japanese boyfriends first. I know it is not easy to meet right one. men are men so some just want to show off their friends if they have non-Japanese girlfriends especially western women. but reckon there are some fine Japanese men here. good luck to you
