a question for Americans working in Japan
Hello fellow citizens,

I have a couple tax questions for ya. I was just about to file my 2007 taxes(I worked in the states for about half a year, moved to Kyoto in July, then started working for a small Japanese company), when after I did a little research, I realized that I may have to report my foreign earnings as well.

So I was thinking, 1)I already paid my taxes on the money I earned here to the Japanese gov't, and the money I made has nothing to do with the U.S. Why should I have to report these earnings?
2)If I do report, how is the U.S. aware of how much money I make here? I doubt very much my company furnished that info to the IRS.
3)If the IRS indeed dosn't have that info, is my healthy conscience the only enforcement I have to report my foreign earnings?
4)What do you folks who work in Japan do?

I appreciate any helpful reply anyone has to offer.
以上、よろしくお願い致します。
