NAFL, please explain your statements.
The following message is to ask the President of the NAFL Mr. Carne to explain comments that he posts on websites here in Japan, as we feel that they inhibiting the development of the game here in Japan.

Dear Mr. Carne. Following your posts http://www.whynotjapan.com/newbb+viewtopic.viewmode+thread+topic_id+688+forum+11+post_id+4891.htm#4891

we wish for you to explain the statements you consistently post. We also wish that you think about how you may be damaging football in Japan with such posts. You post material on site listed above, there is damaging material on the NAFL website and at times posted on other websites.

Please explain why you think that the NAFL is the only non-race based league in Japan?

The Osaka Dingoes are part of the JAFL. The Osaka Dingoes and the JAFL are both non-race based Australian Football originations. Last week when the Osaka Dingoes played the Tokyo Goannas http://www.worldfootynews.com/article.php/20080414005541159 players were picked upon their sporting merit, it had nothing to with race.

Within the JAFL the national team is also selected upon merit and the rules laid down by the AFL on who is eligible to play for a national team. This seems normal; after all it is a national team. It is also accepted by most nations, once the New Zealand national team had to display their passports before a game could start.

It seems that the Mr. Carne has a problem with the rules of the AFL. If this is true then I suggest that Mr. Carne contact the AFL and not continue writing things that only damages the game here in Japan.

Could Mr. Carne also explain this statement “We're the only league in Japan with people who know the game.”

I would say that the 4 JAFL players who spent time with Essendon and Genki Tanaka who spent a season in Melbourne and a season in Darwin know the game well enough. There are also many other people within the JAFL who know the game well.

We feel that the statements made by the President of the NAFL are not true and are damaging to the Australian Football in general and particularly in Japan. We hope that if Mr. Carne cannot explain his statements then he stop posting such statements.

The Osaka Dingoes.
