Face of the Month
::::No.1::::

Q1. What is your name?

A. Athan.

Q2. Where are you originally from?

A. Born and raised in Spain until I was 19. In fact, I arrived to the US, on my 19th birthday. I lived in Pensacola, Florida, where I attended the University of West Florida.

Q3. What do you do?

A. I teach english at a Music and Entertainment College in Osaka.

Q4. Where is your favorite restaurant or bar?

A. It depends on what country's food I want to eat that day. All my favorite ones are in the Namba area.

Q5. Where is your recommendatory spot for a trip?

A. Philippines and Peru are on my "gotta go there" list. I'll let you know once I've been there.

Teacher at music school

Q6. What are you into at the moment?

A. Learning. Lately I'm into Judo, fencing, salsa, preparing for the 2kyuu of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, composing music, singing and playing the piano, studying for the GMAT... Yeah, I just can't pick one thing at a time, I have to do it all!

Q7. What do you want to do in Japan?

A. Earn professional and cultural experience as well as becoming proficient in japanese.

Q8. What are your goals for 2006?

A. Become a better person. Sounds goofy, and cheesy, but I'd like to make everyone remember me with a smile on their face (it has to do with a sermon my priest gave at our church when I was little. Long story...)

Q9. Where can we find you?

A. All over Namba and Shinsaibashi. Rarely go to Umeda, because I always get mixed up with all the streets. Hey, come and see me perform live when you get a chance!

Q10. What is your funniest moment / lost in translation moment in Japan?

A. One morning in Osaka I was following an obviously drunk salary man up the escalators in Umeda when he proceeded to vomit violently on the lady in front of him. He pretented nothing had happened and when he got to the top of the stairs vomited once again but this time his false teeth fell onto the floor in front of him, again acting as if this was normal, he picked them out of his vomit and popped them back into his mouth and staggered off. Classic stuff....

Q11. What are your goals for 2006?

A. It hasn't even been even a year yet, but it's been a great learning experience (with some ups and some downs). For those new here, and those veterans, just have a great time and have an open mind!
