Owner of a small business

Q1. What is your name?

A. Luke Hall (Skywalker/the force, I've heard them all)

Q2. Where are you originally from?

A. Christchurch on the South coast of England. Not famous for anything really!! There's a few pikies (see the film Snatch).

Q3. How long have you been in Japan?

A. About a year and a half now.

Q4. What do you do?

A.
I run a small English school in Senrioka, Suita as well as work for a pre-school on Saturdays.

Q5. Where is your favorite restaurant or bar?

A. There's a famous yakitori restaurant in Suita called Ajitomi. The owner doesn't let you refuse food, he says if you don't like it, he will refund your money!!

Q6. What are you into at the moment?

A. My main sport is Judo. I've been doing it in Japan since I got here, and got my Sho dan last year. My senseis also want me to go for my second dan this year, I don't know about that! I'm also into motorcycle sport, so I watch every world superbike and motoGP on tv. I'm also quite into learning Japanease.

Q7. What do you want to do in Japan?

A. I want to develop my business, learn Japanease, buy a house and spend some good time with my wife.

Q8. What do you think of Japan?

A. Mostly good, although there are some bad things. The food is great, people are nice and it's genrally cheaper than England, but I don't like the old fashioned way of thinking and when companies think its bad to travel before getting a job. And what's up with people ringing their bells on their bikes-on the path-behind you???

Q9. What is your funniest moment / lost in translation moment in Japan?

A. One of my Judo senseis who is also a munk, took me to a great spa in Namba. Really expensive place. There was like 7 or 8 different temparature spas, a Finland sauna, steam room etc. Don't forget you have to be naked. When we finished all that I thought we were going home, so we walked through this door, and there was a que of ladies sat there waiting for us!!! They were the washer women. I was so embarrassed stood there with no clothes on!!!

Q10. What are your goals for 2006?

A. Develop my school, save money, enjoy my life.

Q11. Where can we find you?

A. Around Suita, but it's a bit out of the way from central Osaka.

Q12. Message to WhyNot!? users!

A. Japan can get lonely at times, but to help this, do a hobby where you can meet people. Learn Japanease so you can make Japanease friends, and don't ignore other foreigners in the street!!!!!
